As a company, we are proud to participate in different EU and Local projects which aim the introduction of sustainable alternatives and practices in production protocols. Furthermore, collaborations with the Cyprus University of Technology and Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence provides valuable tool in investigating some parameters of interest in depth. Particularly, the company is hosting a PhD student focused on the development of biopolymer-based coatings enriched with bioactive compounds exhibiting antifungal activity, aiming to reduce the use of conventional fungicides.
The position is funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation under the “PhD in Industry – Sustain Citrus” project, which addresses improvements in post-harvest applications and their integration into a commercial line. Moving forward as a company, we are looking at improving our agricultural practices and continue to thrive as the biggest citrus producer and exporter in Cyprus.
Cerberus Project
Pest monitoring is both necessary and very challenging. It is typically performed through costly and time-consuming field visits to count and identify pests in fixed traps, resulting in limited spatial and temporal resolution.
Georgia Project
The project assesses drivers and barriers of key innovative irrigation systems, including environmentally responsible recycling of sewage sludge and biowaste streams, biological water-absorbing geocomposites, as well as water abundance and scarcity solutions.
SustainCitrus
This research focuses on innovative, biopolymer-based edible coatings incorporating natural bioactive compounds to enhance citrus postharvest quality. By targeting fungal decay, the project promotes sustainable alternatives to conventional fungicides. The outcomes support the adoption of environmentally friendly solutions in commercial postharvest systems.
